Challenge

After renovating the primary school lavatories, the students and teachers of the school expressed their eagerness to learn how to use a computer. Gayathridevi and Cibi were able to assemble a computer by receiving a refurbished CPU and monitor. They installed the computer in the school and set up a learning module managed by a few youth volunteers in the village.

A video was taken on the day that the computer was installed; Gayathri and Cibi tried to generate curiosity amongst the students and asked them simple questions to gauge the level of computer literacy. Watch the clip here.

Challenge

ENDLESS is an information loaded CPU that provides access to widespread information without an internet connection. On installing a computer in Melmayil, Gayathri and Cibi realized that without an internet connection, the students were missing out on the wide access to information available online. As procuring an internet connection in rural areas is a challenge, Gayathri came across the next best thing - ENDLESS.

The cost of purchasing the CPU was crowd-funded and the device was installed by connecting it to the monitor. A video depicting the children learning from the vast information on Endless will be uploaded soon.
